Managing Gaming Communities: Fire watch – Bridge builder – Detective
Topic
Community managers in the video game industry fulfill a multitude of roles in their companies. Their specific tasks and the scope of their responsibilities vary depending on their employer, but there is one thing they all have in common — they are acting as the bridge between the game developers and their games’ players. Community managers are translating their companies’ vision and ideas for the community, while at the same time advocating for community feedback and wishes internally. This talk tries to highlight how this can be done in a way that emphasizes positivity within the community without ignoring more critical voices.
