Free money?! Not quite, but Germany offers extensive public funding programs to support game developers – both at the state and federal level. In this panel, representatives of four funding institutions from different German federal states share practical advice on how to successfully apply for public games funding. There will be insights on how to present projects in the application in the best possible way and which common mistakes applicants should definitely avoid. Also, this is the ideal opportunity to ask your questions to the people who are responsible for the funding programs.

As a location initiative, Gamecity Hamburg supports, connects, and makes the diverse games ecosystem in Hamburg visible. Dennis Schoubye has an extensive network in the international games industry and worked as an experienced communications consultant for PR agencies and games companies before joining Kreativ Gesellschaft. In addition to the games industry, his focus was on technology and start-up topics. Dennis Schoubye has been fascinated by the mass medium of computer and video games and their potential ever since childhood.

Within her role at FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Michaela has taken care of more than 400 applications for funding. She has accompanied the further development of the Bavarian and national guidelines from her practical experience and she is well known for her networking talents: no mountain high enough for not organizing games devs’ gatherings there.

Head of Digital Content @ Film and Mediafund NRW
Till Hardy holds master degrees in economics and cultural studies. He is working in the industry since the age of interactive CD-Roms. Since 2011 he works for the Film and Media Fund NRW and is, amongst other things, responsible for the funding programme „Digital Games and interactive content“.

Dr. Angela Frank
Head of Unit Cultural and Creatives Industries @ MFG Baden-Württemberg
Dr. Angela Frank has been head of the Cultural and Creative Industries Unit of the media and film company MFG Baden-Württemberg since February 2019. After studying law and earning a doctorate in media and antitrust law, she worked for many years at the Landesanstalt für Kommunikation Baden-Württemberg. There, she headed the department of promotion, public relations, education and training and was deputy to the president. Before that, she was responsible for licensing private regional broadcasters.
